Secondary piggyback infusions, sometimes referred to as IVPBs, are used to deliver fluid or medication over a short period. Amsino’s secondary piggyback IV set ups come with a hanger to reduce the height of the primary bag allowing the piggyback solution to attach higher on the IV pole and infuse first. Then the primary infusion automatically resumes flow, reducing the possibility for empty-bag air embolism.
